Hello faithful Truth from the Heart followers! We hope you had a great holiday season filled with joy and good company. If you've been away for a while, it's not too late to check out some awesome posts from some of our student fellows that they wrote over break!
In "Baby, All I want for Christmas is You: The Consumerism Dating Culture", Catherine Beigel gives us a well thought out critique of dating in the 21st Century.
Annie Foster's "On the Teachings of Charles Dickens' Ghosts: Christmas, An Obstacle to Modern Progress", we find a heartwarming, yet convicting account of how the spirit of Christmas dismounts "our machines from their thrones."
"Treat Yourself!: The Slogan of College Students on Christmas Break" is another article from Ms. Beigel. In it, she helps us to ask the question "how well are we spending our leisure time?"
The article "A Clean Slate: When It's Time to Give Love a Second Chance" by Hannah Bruckner is a great reflection on dating. Dietrich von Hildebrand's thought and Ms. Bruckner's incorporation of personal experience in her writing combine for a one-two punch to the heart.
Finally, Jonah Soucy's "Better than Cheap Thrills: The Art of Leisure" is another reflection on the gift of leisure, guided by the thought of Josef Pieper. Check it out and discover for yourself how "the soul of leisure lies in celebration."
Check out these posts and as always, feel free to leave feedback on any of our posts. We would love to hear from you!
