battle be kind

Shivering

Stuebenville is hunkered down, unhappy about the weather.  With a low of 15 degrees and some flying flurries, no one really wants to go outside.  This is curl up in bed with Netflix weather.  This is hot chocolate and peppermint weather.  This is heart to heart under the blankets weather.

In weather like this, be gentle.  Be patient.  "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

Thanks, Plato.  Sometimes it's a battle to wake up in the morning.

Papers and projects are overwhelming.  So be kind.

Thanksgiving is coming, and some people are missing their families horribly.  So be kind.

California kids didn’t know what shivering meant until this week.  So be kind.

Meeting people with patience can create a new humanity, a brave - and beautiful - new world.  Pope John Paul II places the honor of creating this new world in the hands of our generation, my generation - my hands, your hands.

"Dear young people of every language and culture, a high and exhilarating task awaits you: that of becoming men and women capable of solidarity, peace and love of life, with respect for everyone.  Become craftsmen of a new humanity where brothers and sisters - members all of the same family - are able at last to live in peace."

Capable of solidarity - of sharing burdens, sharing smiles, sharing silence.

Share burdens.  Share smiles.  Share silence.

Be kind.
